This is a picture of a Victoria Cross which is Britain's highest award for valor. Since this award was instituted in 1854, only 1,354 have been awarded. One of those was awarded to this soldier from the Cameronians Regiment called Prtivate Henry May. You can see this on display in the regimental museum based in Hamilton, Central Scotland.
