Indian Mutiny Medals - 1857-1858 medals photographs
This is a picture of two medals issued to the Perthshire Light Infantry which was to become the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles)for service in the Indian Mutiny 1857- 1858The Indian Rebellion of 1857 began as a mutiny of sepoys of British East India Company's army on the 10th of May 1857 and it ended with the fall of Gwalior on 20 June 1858. The Cameronians (to be) served with distinction and were present at the relief of Lucknow. You can see these medals on display in the regimental museum based in Hamilton, Central Scotland.
