Hopetoun House photographs
This is a picture of Hopetoun House which is commonly regarded as being one of the most splendid examples of Georgian architecture in Britain. Situated just outside Edinburgh, the House is set in 150 acres of rolling parkland with extensive woodland walks, lovely views over the River Forth and a deer park.
Hopetoun was the home of the Earls of Hopetoun, later created Marquesses of Linlithgow, since it was built in 1699. Indeed part of the House is still lived in today by the present Marquess and his family. As with most large estate houses in Scotland today, it is owned and managed by an independent, charitable trust created in 1974 by the current Marquess and his father
